.
| Tell us, how did you got into drag racing? | |
A & L Racing started by selling high performance parts. The RX-7 was the
first company vehicle. It started with slight modifications to race, and got
way out of control.
| What other cars have you raced in the past? | |
Just the Mazda RX-7.
| What are your daily driven cars? | |
I usually drive my Hummer or Ferrari F355.
| Nice! Tell us about your new projects including the drag Civic we saw at SEMA | |
I am working on a Civic Si Pro Car, Porsche 996 Turbo, and BMW M3.
| How much longer before the Civic will be on the track, and will the NSX retire once the Civic has debuted? | |
The Si Pro Car is going to require more time for completion. The NSX will continue to run when
the Si is debuted.
| What's your biggest hurdle to overcome? | |
Learning to setup a car of this caliber, and getting better acquainted with piston engines. I am working with Mid State Machine and Mid State CNC to have custom billet engine components engineered to assist me in the process of making more power and increase reliability.
| Where do you see yourself at the end of 2003 and beyond? | |
Hopefully nearing the completion of the Si Pro Car and getting closer on the setup of the NSX. I am under contract for about 2 more years. I'm not sure if I will continue to race when my contracts are up.
| And probably the most common question of all: What's your best time? | |
I ran a 7.39 second 1/4 miles @ 175 miles per hour in Sonoma, CA at Infineon Raceway. The car weighs in at 2130 lbs with me driving.
| Awesome, keep up the good work and we'll keep an eye out for your new projects! | |
Thanks guys!
