1999 Audi A4 2.8
Owner: Christine Scholl
Location: Santa Monica, CA

The prevailing trend in the Euro scene is for relatively subtle exterior modifications that don't drastically change the look of the car. This B5-platform Audi A4's exterior modifications can't really be called subtle! This car is all show and all go...guys don't feel bad if this female driving instructor & SCCA crew member shows you a thing or two about cars.
| It's not often that we see girls really into cars as much as you are? What got you into the whole automotive scene? | |
Actually a co-worker from a bank connived me into buying an Audi versus a Bimmer, and my boyfriend bought me a weekend at a track school at Laguna Seca...how's that for a 3rd date? :-) LOL, I did that first event in the pouring rain and actually kept my car on track and amazed all the onlookers, my instructor, and myself! I then met more people who were the beginnings of A4.org, which is now Audiworld.
At a track event back in late 1999 I met Marc Kaladjyan of AMS, who had the first body-kitted A4 there. I loved the look of the modified body, and just "had to have it". A few months later I drove 300+ miles to have AMS install my ABT kit, which was the beginning of a slippery slope of mods. At the same time I got "bit by the track bug" HARD and was doing every HPDE (high performance driving school) offered by SCCA, NASA, Audi Quattro Club, Donutz Racing and others.
After a year or two of events, and several sets of race tires, I was asked to join the ranks of instructors with the NorCal Audi Quattro Club, now the Audi Club of North America. Now I teach at the same HPDE events, and I'm requested a lot by ladies who are sharing high-horsepower modified cars with their boyfriends/husbands to instruct them on "how to handle the beast". LOL again.
I moved to SoCal last year, and *scored* a movie deal with Disney, so the Mad Modding continued. I started doing car shows as well two years, and have won 6 trophies (out of 7 entries). I work VERY hard to make sure my mods are consistent with the "it's a track car plus a daily driver" theme of the car - my *baby*.
| I hear that your car might be in the Herbie movie? | |
Yup, she's a movie star! Up and comer! Actually my car is in the "show scene" of the movie, it's not one of the feature cars that's driven, but you gotta start somewhere :-).
| Are some people surprised when they find out a female owns your car? | |
Yes, they usually look for the "man behind the girl racer" when they see me at shows, get togethers, or club drives. Nope, it's just me. No man in my life right now - haha, they couldn't keep up! (sorry to all my wonderful and supportive ex's reading this..)
Seriously, I'm developing quattrogirl.com into a site where girls can go to find out information about modding their cars, links to forums and technical bulletins, and articles and "How Tos" that will help them out with their cars. Many, ok most, girls don't know how to do simple things like check fluid levels in their cars, tire pressure, brake pad wear, or change tires when they get a flat. I want to change that and educate girls (and some guys!) on these basics, as well as promote safety school driving classes.
| Is this your daily driver? If not, what else do you have in the stable? | |
She's IT. 115,000 miles and counting. I drive 104 miles a day round trip commuting to and from work, take her to the track, autocross, fun mountain twisties, up & down the coast and everywhere. Nothing else is needed!
| Is there a general theme that you're trying to follow when modifying your car? | |
Yup yup yup. It's RACE, not RICE *ducks and runs*. I've put all the mods on the car to be performance-oriented, to make the car faster (don't we wish everything added HP?!), perform more smoothly and consistently, and to look more Euro/DTM. I love the British Touring Rally Car look and have made my car look a little like that... first the Audi rings up the side of the car, and now the widebody....
| What do you do for a living to pay for the go fast bits on your car? | |
I'm an accountant, a CPA. I had to give up the 8 to 5 routine of an office, it didn't fit in with all the running around LA to get my mods done (heh), so I'm a consultant now. I project manage those dreaded Sarbanes-Oxley audits you hear about (think Enron). Really, auditors are nice people too! And if you work for a public company that needs some SOX consulting help, look me up! My CPA firm is called Four Rings Consulting, PC - how's that for keeping the Audi theme?

That's supposed to be a secret! More shows, more autocross, track and club driving events. Oh, you mean what MODS are next? Uhmmm have they combined a turbo and a supercharger yet? Because THAT would be fast!
| If you had to do it all over again, would you have gone down the same route w/your car and its modifications? | |
Certainly! Uhmmm well I *might* have bought an S4 when they first came out in 2000, but it would have still followed the same path.
