The U.S. Sports Car Invitational at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was headlined by the race cars of the Grand American Road Racing Association's Rolex Sports Car Series competing in the Road & Track 250. Supporting races included the Grand-Am Cup 200, the SCCA Mazda MX-5 Cup, and Historic Stock Cars.

In the Road & Track 250, Max Angelelli & co-driver Jan Magnussen drove the #10 SunTrust Racing Pontiac Riley to a first place finish in the Daytona Prototype class, while in the GT class the duo of Wolf Henzler and Robin Liddell raced to #1 in the #72 NEC Tafel Racing Porsche GT3 Cup.

In the Grand-Am Cup 200 GS class, Steve Bernheim & co-driver Dwain Dement raced to the checkered flag in the #03 Bernheim Racing Porsche 996, while Eric Curran and Jamie Holtom scored their second-consecutive ST (Street Tuner) class win in their #01 Clearscada/GM Performance Division Chevrolet Cobalt.

Infield activities included the second annual Marque Madness "all marque" car festival, which makes every car owner a participant rather that just a spectator during the race weekend. Participation in Marque Madness includes parade laps around the track, which is sure to be a highlight for many. Many can boast that they've "driven" Laguna Seca by way of GranTurismo, but much fewer can brag that they physically drove on the real track and not in some video game.
