Thousands of Midwestern car enthusiasts turned up for Minneapolis' first shot at hosting a Hot Import Nights event on Sept. 22 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. With exhibitors like GM, Pioneer, Mopar and Boost Mobile, and three stages of hip hop artists like Lil' Crazed and sexy models like HIN celeb Christine Mendoza and Minneapolis' own Toni Zeik, HIN exceeded any expectations from the Northland.
Visitors' faces displayed curious excitement as they entered the convention hall since for many Minnesotans, this was probably their first HIN experience. The closest other regular HIN venue is Chicago, about a six-hour-drive away. Car-club enthusiasts and budding car models came from as far north as Fargo, N.D. and Winnipeg, Manitoba to showcase their wares and see what their peers could produce.
Awestruck best describes those who witnessed this area's biggest import-car extravaganza. Many walked out inspired by the pimped-out rides they saw and clutching their bounty of model booty -- autographed photos of the special ladies unlike any seen in a Minnesota car show before.
