Hot Import Nights in December translates to hot cars, hot models, in hot cities, and for good reason too. Everyone wants to be in nice warm locales during the winter months and what better cities to choose from than Honolulu and Miami? The unfortunate twist in the Honolulu event was the fact that the air conditioning wasn't turned on early enough by the venue to cool down the space which had heated up during the day. Can you say sauna?
For the size of this event, Honolulu had a fairly good amount of models from the mainland. Some of the models representing were, Ursula Mayes, Amanda Gift, Jenny Chu, Natasha Yi, Christine Mendoza, Bahara, Helen Su, Melyssa Grace, Jae Angel, KT-So and Lisa Flemming. I think that many of the models came to Hawaii to not only attend this event, but also to get some R&R at the same time.
The venue also had a lot of energy, not just because of HIN, but there were two stages showcasing various entertainment such as go-go dancing, fashion shows, the HIN model search, and DJ action by Tera Patrick herself. In addition, the big University of Hawaii football game against the Washington Huskies was on flat screens throughout the convention center. Let's just say that when UH won, the NOS model lounge erupted with cheers. NOS set up a flat screen to show the football game and many of the attendees were standing around the area to see the outcome of this big game. With a comeback win that night, UH finished their season with a perfect 12-0 season record and they are headed to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans against the Georgia Bulldogs.
In addition to the usual vehicles, such as Evo's, Suby's, and 350z's, there was a pretty sizable collection of Scion XB's at the event which reminded me how popular the vehicle is for customization. It looks like there are many tuners who love that Box.
