It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
As a team player, I invariably pitch in when there's work to be done, and this weekend, I not only pitched in, I pitched... nevermind. Let me continue.
This week, Car and Model's chief photographer, Mike Bender was to be a pair of hands short. Being the Good Samaritan that I am, I offered my services as a second lens, equipment slave and scribe. For those new to Car and Model, Glamourcon is an expo featuring Playboy, pin-up and calendar models that attend to meet and greet fans, sell signed merchandise and take pictures with the fans, usually for a small fee. One or two of the less classy ones even sell pre-worn undies for those who want to get their freak on, or whatever the hell they do with them. I don't want to know.
This was Car and Model's 12th consecutive trip to one of the celebrated Glamourcon events, but my first. The event is typically held twice a year in Los Angeles and once a year in Chicago and is known for its top-notch exhibitors.
For this, Glamourcon's 43rd, we were particularly fortunate to have Jayde Nicole in attendance; she's the recently-crowned 2008 Playboy Playmate of the Year and an all around stunning girl next door (not next door to me, but you get the point). Jayde also received $100,000 and a new Cadillac CTS from Playboy as the new PMOY. Not too shabby!
In addition to the ex-Playboy models, there were a number of other faces familiar to some of you in the car show scene, including Natasha Yi, Jasmine Mai, Miss Becky, Sandy Saya, Akira Lane and more.
If all of this sounds good, Glamourcon has another event coming up in Chicago in August which dovetails nicely with our Chicago-area Nightshift event. What a great way to spend a weekend.
I almost forgot, I would be remiss if I neglected to mention my favorite of the day. That would be Amber Campisi, Playboy's Miss February 2005. She's not only gorgeous; she's sharp as a tack and helps run her family-owned business in Texas.
