A record crowd crammed into Irwindale Speedway for a chance to see some of the finest drifting action around. This was the final event of the 2006 Formula Drift series and it was great from beginning to end, despite some gloomy weather.
Driving the Nitto Tire/Rockstar Energy Drink/Pacific Rim Nissan Silvia, Daijiro Yoshihara (Dai) went on to win first place in this round with a comfortable lead over runner-up Rhys Millen. While it wasn't enough for him to win the series it was enough to secure 5th place overall for 2006.
Top honors for the year belong to Samuel Hubinette and his tire shredding Dodge Viper. He ended the season just 32 points ahead of 2nd overall Rhys Millen with a Pontiac GT. Congratulations to Samuel and all of the competitors who drifted this season and gave it their all.
