Saturday could not have been a better day to spend the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at the tracks. The 11,000 fans watching from the grandstands were treated to the very best precision drift driving in the world. What they witnessed during this weekend was nothing short of spectacular.
This was the last battle of the series and it was time to either bring it or get off the tracks. There was no room for mistakes as drivers from 12 countries pushed their finely tuned drift machines around the unforgiving banked turns at the Irwindale Speedway (aka The House of Drift). To up the stakes of this competitive series, drivers were required to drift at high speeds all the while coming within feet of required clipping points around the track.
Congratulations to Nobushige Kumakubo (Japan) for winning the 2007 D1GP Championship on Saturday and Vaughn Gittin Jr's (USA) victory of the All Star World Championship on Sunday.
