The 2008 season of Hot Import Nights is nearing the home stretch. Nightshift Pleasanton was their last stop in California making it an ideal time for many show car competitors to make their last appearance before going back to the shops and garages in preparation for next season while others go back to being daily driven. But for the road warrior competitors, there are still a few HIN events left in hopes to make their points to place in the NCCA competition. With that in mind, Nightshift Pleasanton definitely had something to interest everyone from your car enthusiast to your concert going fan.
The day started off with the ideal summer-ending weather with a few hits of wind that were enough to shift a few hairstyles. Over 350 vehicles were in attendance with enough variety for any car enthusiast to see and appreciate. Top car show teams like TWC are still representing strong with Randy Riggs' Infinity G35, Eric Shih's BMW M3 and the Best of Show Winner, Robert Wang's VW Golf. Team Emperor was in attendance with their quality collection of custom Mistsubishi Evos. Team Hokori celebrated their ten year anniversary while displaying some of their show cars of past along side their current show cars with a special surprise of a brand new Nissan 2009 GT-R purchased the day before the event. Many of the Northern California car groups like JDM Theory and Team Jinsoku were representing showing that the car culture is still alive and growing strong.
We cannot forget the sponsors and vendors like Boost Mobile with their Freestyle MotoX jumping, Valvoline doing their Valvoline Challenge on their mobile dyno, NOS providing samples of their energy drink all over the venue, and of course, the models. Did I mention Pleasanton had models and go-go dancers everywhere? The Official Model Lounge and larger model booths like PHM had an overflow of models (is there such a thing as too man models?) in attendance. The drifting demos by both professionals and amateurs brought in large crowds taking in the scent of burning rubber and eyes followed the skillfully driven vehicles drifting along the course.
Drift car demos and motocross bikes... Vendors attracting the crowds with their talent and products... And the eye candy of both cars and models... The evening wouldn't be complete with a concert by Lil' Jon... YEAAAAAH! Nightshift Pleasanton definitely brought a memorable closing to another California summer.
