This year's International Consumer Electronics show had notable goodies, including a 150" Television by Panasonic who called it the "Worlds largest advanced high definition plasma display", believe me it was a beautiful sight to see. Sharp had a 108" LCD (the largest I saw at the show) and Samsung had what they called the "World's largest ultra high definition LCD TV' which was an 82" unit with 3840x2160 resolution, crazy! Every year they get bigger, better and cheaper.

Naturally there are plenty of other must have electronics and computers everywhere. VooDoo and Alienware both had impressive gaming machines with multiple video cards and the latest quad core CPUs. Cooler Master had some cases that were custom painted to look like a bus, the Statue of Liberty and more. There were so many phones and PDA's on display from Samsung, Blackberry, Boostmobile and Erickson, that it was truly overwhelming.

Over in the mobile electronics area it didn't seem that the manufacturers went all out as they have in the past shows. Alpine never disappoints though and they had a massively customized boat in their room and a bass "torture chamber" (my name for it) that had a 2 inch thick reinforced door. Brave show goers who stepped inside were treated to 16 Alpine 12" subwoofers and up to 160db of pure bass. This was more than a few people could handle, even for a few seconds. I can see the car stereo shops around the country lining up now to get the plans for this device, it's a great way to show what is possible if you have a fat wallet and want some debilitating bass in your ride. Naturally, all the big guns had booth too, including: Pioneer, JL Audio, Eclipse, Clarion, Memphis Audio, Valor, MTX, Zapco and many more.

This concludes our 2008 CES coverage. We will definitely be looking forward to what 2009 has to offer, as technology never stands still.
